Christy Friend is an assistant professor of English and Associate Director of First-Year English at the University of South Carolina. Her research on the teaching of writing has been published in several venues, including “College English” and “Rhetoric Review”, and she is the co-author of “The Scott, Foresman Handbook for Writers.” Friend conducts workshops for elementary schools in the Columbia Area as well as in-service workshops on how to teach creative writing.
